Cristiana Morganti | Jessica and me

Lei vuole che io danzi, oppure vuole che io parli?

Behind this question, addressed by Cristiana Morganti to a spectator, hides one of the keys to reading Jessica and me . In this show, the historical dancer of Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater Wuppertal stops pondering about herself: about her relationship with her body and dance, the meaning of being in the scene, the sense of the “other than herself” that implies making theater. It turns out to be a kind of self-portrait ideally for two voices (Jessica and me) of effective and spooky irony, where Cristiana Morganti reveals what happens in the backstage of her professional career. A puzzle of gestures, shadows, muscles, tenacity, dread, shyness, memories and projects.
