Teatro Grande di Brescia

Rinaldo

The fifth proposed work on the playbill – on November 30th at 8.30pm with an additional afternoon performance on December 2nd at 3.30pm – is Rinaldo, a three-act opera by Georg Friedrich Händel, one of the composers who most represents the Baroque period. For the famous eighteenth-century masterpiece, never before performed at Teatro Grande, there will be a cast of young but well-known voices including Raffaele Pe (Goffredo) – one of the most appreciated Italian countertenors, also cited by the English magazine Gramophone Music Magazine and the French Diapason – the French contralto Delphine Galou (Rinaldo) and Francesca Aspromonte (Almirena), one of the most interesting young interpreters of the classical and baroque repertoire. On stage there will also be Anna Maria Sarra (Armida), Luigi De Donato (Argante) and Federico Benetti (Mago Cristiano). In the orchestra pit there will be the Byzantine Academy – an ensemble specialized in the repertoire of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries – which will be directed by Maestro Ottavio Dantone. We see the work of Jacopo Spirei, a young and talented Italian director who, after having established himself abroad, gathering successes, particularly in Germany and Austria, is getting deserved attention also in Italy. Alongside him is set designer Mauro Tinti and costume designer Silvia Aymonino.
