Lezioni di Storia: Le età dell’Europa

ALBERTO MARIO BANTI
1848-1914 L’ETÀ DEL NAZIONALISMO

The European elections are scheduled for the next 26th May. Any way you look at it and whatever our opinion as citizens is, it is an event of historical significance: perhaps for the first time in such an explicit way, such different political groups will confront each other. The focus will not be on the traditional political ideologies, but rather on the following topics: “how” and “if” to stay in Europe, as built in the post-war period.

The series “The ages of Europe”, conceived by Editori Laterza, identifies four phases we can divide the history of Europe of the last two centuries into: the age of nationalism (from the uprisings of 1948 until World War I), the age of totalitarianism (the two World Wars and the period in between), the welfare age (from the post-war period to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989), and the uncertainty age, to the present age. Each one of these phases lasts decades.

The actress Elena Vanni will take part to every conference.
