Macbeth

The third work proposed on the playbill for the 14th November – with an additional afternoon performance on the 16th November – is Macbeth by Giuseppe Verdi. This opera is finally back on the stage of Teatro Grande after 12 years. Macbeth is the 10th opera written by Verdi and the first on his catalogue inspired by one of William Shakespeare’s dramas. This opera will be proposed in Brescia and in all theatres of the Circuit OperaLombardia with the same international sets used in Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos of Lisbon. The performance of Macbeth will be directed by Elena Barbalich, a Venetian director who received high recognition for her works. Sets and costumes are by Tommaso Lagattola, choreographies by Costanza Degani . In this masterpiece stand out the well known voices of Angelo Veccia (Macbeth), Alexey Birkus (Banco), Silvia Dalla Benetta (Lady Macbeth), Giuseppe Distefano (Macduff), Alessandro Fantoni (Malcolm), Alberto Comes ( Macbeth’s doctor), Katarzyna Medlarska ( Lady Macbeth’s dame). The orchestra will be directed by Gianluigi Gelmetti, one of the most distinguished italian music directors.
