Hofesh Shechter Company – Shechter II | From England with love

Shechter II is the company of young dancers by Hofesh Shechter, one of the most disruptive choreographers on the new international scene.
From England with love is an ode to this intricate and beautiful country. In Shechter’s choreography, the dancers evoke the profound paradox of this country, open, generous and searching for its soul, always in conflict between its dark history and its strong attachment to old traditions. They involve us in their search for identity and self-knowledge as they struggle with this complex system of conflicting values and messages. A rich score that combines the breathtaking sounds of English composers, presented in contrast to wild rock juxtaposed with echoes of choir and electronic music in an avant-garde cacophony. Playful and catchy, full of pride and paradox, From England with Love comes across as a letter addressed to ‘Dear John’ … a farewell note to friends and foes alike and a peek into the heart and soul of this beautiful yet complicated country.
