A digital platform with a new look and new content, best able to convey the diversity of the activities of the Teatro Grande.
To ideally close Puccini’s centenary, the 2024 playbill includes the Lucca maestro’s La Bohème, which has not been performed at the Teatro Grande for nine years. The new production – whose cast is still being finalised – will feature some winners of the As.Li.Co. 2024 international competition; a production that is predominantly young in terms of singers, but also in terms of the main leading roles. The staging will be entrusted to the winner of the competition promoted by OperaLombardia for the best under-35 directing project, successfully launched in 2022 and now in its second edition. As many as 58 projects were nominated by creative teams under 35, mainly of Italian nationality, but artists from Poland, Spain, Germany, Bulgaria, Malta, Romania and Ireland also participated, submitting a report on the directing and stage design, set sketches and costume designs. The Commission declared the winner the team La scatola dei ricordi composed of director and costume designer Maria Luisa Bafunno, set designer Eleonora Peronetti, choreographer Emanuele Rosa and lighting designer Gianni Bertoli.
