Falstaff

Falstaff, Giuseppe Verdi’s last opera, will be on stage on November 16th at 8.30pm and on November 18th at 3.30pm. Taken from William Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor and performed for the first time at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan on 9th February 1893, the opera has not been performed in Brescia for 10 years. The 2018 staging is directed by Roberto Catalano – Palermo director who debuted in directing at the Teatro Sociale di Bergamo in 2007 with the diptych Pigmalione by Donizetti and Che Originali! by Mayr – and the conducting of Marcello Mottadelli, a well-known professional on the interactional music scene. In the title role the voice of Alberto Gazale stands out, repeatedly described by critics as “the baritone verdiano heir of the Italian school”. On stage we also see Daniele Terenzi (Ford), Oreste Cosimo (Fenton), Ugo Tarquini (Dr. Cajus), Manuel Pierattelli (Bardolfo), Pietro Toscano (Pistola), Sarah Tisba (Mrs. Alice Ford), Maria Laura Iacobellis (Nannetta), Caterina Piva (Mrs. Quickly), Lulia-Martiniana Antonie (Mrs. Meg Page).
